Hi, I have designed my own clothing line and would appreciate help answering some business related questions from you guys:
1). Do big brands usually make catalogues containing photos of all of their clothing items or some of them? If not all items, then why?
2). I want to distribute my apparel through small stores initially. Do these stores get to pick which items they want from my collection?
3). Do stores usually display their seasonal collections in stages and not all at once?
Thanks so much!Do branded stores usually have catalogues featuring all or only some of clothing items?
i'm a little worried that if you don't know the answers to these questions then you're not ready for what's ahead of you! however, my opinion...
1) depends on the store and how much they want available online. it's a huge market, so i'd suggest having everything available to view, which would consequently make things easier for purchase online...
2) totally depends on the store. see what sorts of agreements you can come up with! try starting up with offering 10/15/20 pieces or whatever, and saying you want to start off with that and see how it goes.
3) seasonal is best, but it's always a good idea to tap into clothing ideas that aren't just for one season...for example, dresses are fantastic in spring/summer and even fall...but a girl can buy a dressy blouse all year round! make sure you attack as many angles as you can.
good luck!
