Buying a rat crawler from the pet store and raising it, I mean. With a pal of similar origins, of course. Is it alright to raise a rat starting from the crawler stage?
As long as the rat is completely weaned from its mother, that is perfectly fine. I bought my 2 females at exactly 4 weeks of age (i happened to be in the pet store the day after the litter was born), and they bonded extremely quickly to me. I didnt want to take the risk of them becoming pregnant from being kept in with the males. The problem with this situation being the pet store. It is very tricky buying from a pet store that doesnt get their stock from a reputable breeder. I found this out the hard way, as my 2 females became sick with myco a couple weeks after acquiring them and died soon after that. But, disregarding the efficacy of pet stores, if the baby is not weaned already, it is possible to still raise it, just a bit more difficult. I guess im not sure what age you mean by the 'crawler stage'. Hope i helped somewhat. Is it alright to raise a rat starting from the crawler stage?
Of course it is. It is much smarter to buy any small pets from a young age - older animals are much harder to tame.Is it alright to raise a rat starting from the crawler stage?
Yes. Right now I am raising a mouse from the fuzzie. It's eyes are not open yet.stage.
