I have a 10lb 2wk.old and my husband thinks we should start the baby on stage 2 playtex evenflow nipples?

I think its too early, when should we move up? He eats nonstop and I cannot keep up with him. I was hoping to pump and store up but he eats 4-6 oz. every meal.I have a 10lb 2wk.old and my husband thinks we should start the baby on stage 2 playtex evenflow nipples?
The nipple flow is for certain ages. Just because the baby weighs more at a certain age doesn't mean they need more flow. Their swallowing reflexes are just the same and if you move up too early then you risk them choking. On the packages it says what month you can move them up and I would try to stay as close to that age as you can within a month or two. Also you can ask your pediatrician what they suggest but this is what I have heard and done for my kids. My son is currently 3.5 weeks old and he eats between 4-6 oz every 1-2.5 hours and I still have him on the first stage nipple and he's only 7lbs 11oz. Good Luck!
my son is 5 months and still just in that phase. I would stay where you are with a 2 week old bc they can get to much milk and will not drink. I tried that one when he was 3 months old and it was to much for him.I have a 10lb 2wk.old and my husband thinks we should start the baby on stage 2 playtex evenflow nipples?
it depends does he have a good suck swallow reflex the stage 2 the milk flow is a bit faster so just as long as he's not choking
I know some think that you should go by the ages on nipple flow, well I don't think that is necessarily true. I think it all depends on your baby. If he seems to get frustrated with the current nipple, or acts like he isn't getting any formula then I'd go up a size. Why don't you start by making a small slit in one of the current nipples, before you make the purchase. If your son drowns on the formula, then you know he isn't ready for the faster pace nipple.

Hope that helped!I have a 10lb 2wk.old and my husband thinks we should start the baby on stage 2 playtex evenflow nipples?
He's only 2 weeks old. Stick with stage 1 until he's older to protect his digestive system. Ask your doctor for advice about when to move to the next stage as he/she will know your baby and what's right for one baby may not be right for yours.
I know you cannot starve your child. However a two week old should only be drinking up to 4 oz. at each feeding. Not until your baby is two months should he drink 4-6 oz. And then at 7 months your baby can drink 6-8 oz. Maybe you should try feeding him only 4 oz. but more fequently. A newborn's tummy is very small and delicate. My son is 2 months old and is still drinking 4 oz. about every 2 hours while he is awake and he weighs just over 12 pounds.

Now the nipple all depends on your baby's sucking ability. If he cannot suck hard enough to get milk out then you should get a slightly bigger hole but not too big where milk is contantly flowing even without sucking.
go to stage 2, load him up.
