I've been searching around online stores (UK), but most have next to no customer reviews, thus I don't know what i'm getting into. I just want a huge book that goes through every stage of rock, and covers biographies, discographies, time periods, events and maybe include reviews. I know, it is Rolling Stone, but it still covers a very big variety of bands, and gives bios of them, has album listings, and has a lot of information in it.Can anyone recommend a "encyclopedia" or "bible" book based on rock?

an encyclopedia i'm hoping to own soon is the encyclopedia of dead rock stars called "The Encyclopedia of Dead Rock Stars: Heroin, Handguns, and Ham Sandwiches" by Jeremy Simmonds
