What kinds of tea are good for diabetics?

My mom was just recently diagnosed with diabetes. She is in the stage where she could easily get that lifted if she diets and such. She's doing really well with her diet. Her birthday is coming up and I was wanting to get her some tea. What kinds of teas would be good for her to drink? If they can be store bought (from Walmart, local grocer, etc.) that would be great, but if not, there is a health food store close by.

Thanks in advance!|||I drink Lipton diet green tea. It's been said that green tea helps keep a type two diabetic's metabolism up which tends to lower insulin resistance. I don't know about that, but I do know (from my own experience) that it helps burn the fat off.|||usually, some types of tea are edited to create some for diabetics- like diabetic green tea. if you want natural, consider these options:

special herbal teas

gymnema tea

dibepan tea

black tea

bean pod tea|||Green tea tends to have the most nutrients as it is not oxidized as other types are. Green teas have only 1/3 of the caffeine as a cup of coffee so it does not have as strong effects as coffee. If you are really worried about the caffeine leaves then steep the leaves for 30 seconds then throughout that water and steep them again. Most of the caffeine comes out in the first 30 seconds of steeping so you should be okay.

It is best if you buy some loose teas and a tea infuser because the these leaves will be bigger thus having more nutrients. Many times it is more cost effective to buy loose teas as you can steep them multiple times so the cost per cup decreases to leaves comparable to the tea found in Walmart.

What type of green teas are best? Well Japaneses green teas are stronger and they should only be infused for 1-2 minuets. Chinese green teas are not as strong but they tend to have subtle flavors and should be infused for 2-3 minuets. Both of these nations produce very high quality teas.

Where is the best place to buy teas and a tea infuser? Special Teas [ http://www.specialteas.com/Green-Tea/ ] has some great Chinese and Japaneses green teas. You can find a good tea with an infuser online or in a specialty stores. Special teas has a Japanese tea pot for 17-22 USD [ http://www.specialteas.com/Tea-ware/Tea-Pots/Japanese-Teaware/Japanese-Ceramic-Teapot.html ]

So in summery. Green teas from Japan and China are the best teas for health purposes. Loose teas have many more health benefits than tea in a bag. The caffeine will have very little effect [if any] as it is only 1/3 of that in a cup of coffee. If you are still worried about caffeine you can reduce it by throwing away the first 30 seconds of steeped water. You can buy good loose green teas from specialteas.com. A good tea pot with an infuser will be required and it can be found at the same website or in most big stores like Walmart.

PS tea is a really good health substance. It guards against cancer, helps reduce diabetes, and is a source of natural fluoride.
