How to transfer a gun from a relative who is terminally ill and can't come to a gun store?

My father-in-law is very sick with lung cancer (stage 4). We live in California, and he can't come with me to the gun store to do the formalities in transferring his gun to my name. I have already passed the HSC certificate. Is it possible for him not to come to the gun store due to his illness? What's the best thing to do. Please help! How to transfer a gun from a relative who is terminally ill and can't come to a gun store?
Intra-familial transfers of firearms are exempt from the licensed dealer transaction requirement. How to transfer a gun from a relative who is terminally ill and can't come to a gun store?
Ask the dealer if he can come to where you are because of these special circumstances. Offer to pay for his time to do so.
