Baby food - stage 1 vs. stage 2?

Our pediatrician said our lil' one can start baby food. I was at the grocery store and noticed that there are stage 1, 2, and 3 foods. The stage 1 jars are smaller in size than the stage 2 and 3 foods. Is there any difference in the texture of the food? Take green peas - for example - are the stage 2 green peas less blended than the stage 1 peas? I was only wondering because both stages were the same price (on sale) at the store. Seems like stage 2 is a better bargain - since it contains more food for the same price. Of course, I would divide it in half before feeding it to my lil' one. But if it were any different in texture, more solid, etc...then i will stick with stage 1. Just wanted to see if anyone can tell me if the difference is only the size of the jar....

thanks in advanceBaby food - stage 1 vs. stage 2?
How old is ur baby?...Stage 1 is more blended and stage 2 has more texture and then stage 3 is chunky...Depending on his age u can start him off at stage 2 but if he doesnt take to it well i would just stay with stage 1..I started feeding my son at 4 months he ate stage one till he was about 6 months and then i mixed between stage 2 and three at about 7 and 8 months and then gave him table food...He did fine.
The stage two is a little thicker but you can always water it down with a little nursery water but avoid stage 3 because it contains chunks and pieces. I suggest making your own baby food. It is a lot less expensive and you can determine the consistency you want. I spent a few hours making baby food and freezing it in ice cube trays and putting them in bags in the freezer. It would last a few months. You can just take out what you need. It thaws quickly and you can even microwave it.Baby food - stage 1 vs. stage 2?
stage 1 nd stage 2 is mainly size but also stage 2 has mixed things like apples and pears /or /chicken and sweetpotatoes...

also stage 1 is good because after you open the jar then you only have 3days i believe to use it... and when starting baby food the goal is to get baby aquainted with food not to see how much they can eat

start slow, good luck
there honestly is no difference Between stage 1 and 2

i used stage to practically from the beginning of my Solid exploration and i started at four month and no problems

and yes stage two is a better bargain

but stage 3 has chunks of food left in it so i would leave stage 3 be for a whileBaby food - stage 1 vs. stage 2?
I would suggest just starting with 1 cause the 2 and 3 have a little more texture and are a little more solid (not as watery) if the baby isn't used to the 2s and 3s it can cause them to become constipated
Stage 1 is pretty watery so they don't choke on it, 2 is thickened, and 3 is textured for when they get chewing down. START WITH STAGE 1
The stages refer to chunkiness, so you want to stick to stage 1 for a while. OR you could make your own.
get a jar of both, feed i to him/her and see what one he likes best, he may lke the thicker texture of stage 2 then he runny of stage 1, mine she likes stage 2 cause they are thicker and she can taste them more!

good luck
The higher the number the thicker its "supposed" to be...I truthfully haven't noticed any difference in the stage 1 and stage 2 foods (we haven't gotten to stage 3 yet)...as long as it is just the plain stuff...basically just fruits and veggies...the ones with meat in them have a little bit of chunks in them...but nothing too major...the main thing is if you get stage 2 is to start off with single ingredient ones first (squash, peas, green beans, etc.) to make sure that there are no allergies or anything...then you can move on up to the mixed stuff (apples and blueberries, bannanas and mixed berries, pumpkins and pears, etc).
