What steps are to be taken to arrest the growth of gun culture in the USA?

on thursday, two gun shops in the state of virginia will stage competetion; any one spending more than $100 in either bod moates stores or old dominion guns and tackle will be entered into a draw, first prize a free hand gun or rifle worth $900.|||That's nice, are you giving them free advertising?|||Find a way to make them un cool in the eyes of American youth. It worked with tobacco.|||Free guns are the best kind.|||Arm more citizens for safety against these thugs!|||Fascism would probably work. Hitler was pretty successful at outlawing guns in Nazi Germany. He had to use guns to do it, but the end justifies the means, doesn't it? I mean, wasn't Germany a safer place to live in with all the citizens disarmed?|||crap, I must have missed it. You will never arrest the growth of gun culture. So long as the constitution exists, and enough states do not get together to ratify it, Americans will always be able to bear arms. I agree that it has been a controversial issue, but the fact is guns save lives. They always have. Check out the stats on crime and lawfully permitted carriers. Anything in the wrong hands can be lethal. There are nearly infinite ways a crazy person can conjure to kill others. Lets stop blaming the guns, and put it where it belongs. On the people that use them to kill.|||They are having this competition in the wake of the VA Tech shooting. Can they be any more tasteless and unfeeling?

People like these gun store owners are not helping their own cause.|||I don't know what you mean by "gun culture." Every responsible adult ought to own a firearm, and be conversant with its proper use and maintenance. All crimes would be severely reduced in that case.|||How sick is that? And anyone wonders why we have people who go off the deep end......|||You know it's funny that you ask the way you do,Gun Culture? The fact of the matter is that our "gun culture" was not a problem until we started coddling criminals thanks to all the liberal policies put into our laws. The vast majority of people killed by guns are those our society can do without, criminals shot by other criminals, criminals shot by police and armed citizens. Things like the VA Tech shooting are an anomoly that are used by anti 2nd amendment folks to try to erode our constitutional rights. And on top of that the VA Tech shooter also appears to be a failure of the legal system, not gun laws. A judge had already declared him to have mental problems,he was released by the court after a psychological exam and because the woman he was originally stalking apperantly wouldn't press charges. Had he been given an in depth enough mental health exam to expose his mental issues when he came to the attention of authorities, and if the judge had not been too lazy to follow up on the case then this would never have happened.

But why not just take the easy way out and blame guns, rather than our horribly failed mental health and judicial system, right? However when we over react and ban firearms I'm going to leave it to those who destroyed our second amendment rights to explain to millions of citizens why they are no longer allowed to protect themselves and their loved ones.

AD|||the gun culture is not confined to the us. it is through out the world.steps are to be taken they should not fall in the hands of kids.
