Any ideas for building a stage..?

Okay so i need to build a small performance stage that is not expensive and portable/easy to store also. My cousins are performing for an upcoming family cookout and we dont want just a old plain square stage. we are have the garage covered so its pitch dark to use the lights and fog and stuff (Or we will use a tent) but anyway we need a stage design with a small catwalk in the center. Please just something different then a simple square! thanks!|||It might be best to just stick with a simple square design, unless you are very experienced at DIY. You can always add decoration to make the stage more interesting. You can use plywood for the top of the stage and then fashion a frame out of 2 by 4s to support it. Just make sure you carefully reinforce it and it鈥檚 very sturdy before your family gets on it. Construction could turn out to be quite expensive once you have brought all the materials. It might be cheaper and less time consuming to buy one readymade.|||Just make a bunch of 4x4 square modules, out of a metal underframe with a plywood top, the height or heights you need.

You can strategically frame it so a person can slide through to run wires, and have openings to run wiring through.

If you are smart about it, you can make the frame collapsible.|||Look up egg-create-construction. It's a building method used in the theater that uses just 3/4 plywood. I've seen it hold up a baby elephant.
