Last year, my kindergartner started to display signs of puberty(underarm odor, breasts). I'm thinking it's because she's slightly overweight(im guessing 67 lbs). She wears a size 8(husky) or regular sz clothes(10-12). I hate putting deodorant under her arms %26amp; spring has SPRUNG, so I can't hide her small breasts(who some ppl say is just "fat") with "hot" undershirts. Do anyone hav any knowledge or know of any sources which may help me slow this down or understand this better. I just hate goin into stores purchasing deodorant %26amp; training bras for my "5 year old!" Any suggestions?|||Both of those things indicate that your 5 yr old has a hormone imbalance. You need to take her to a doctor because it could also be causing her being overweight and it can indicate more dangerous disorders. Definitely go to her GP and if he/she doesn't know what to do ask them to refer you to a specialist.|||I would check with her doctor, as this could be a hormone issue. I know girls are starting puberty earlier and earlier, but 5 is considered abnormally young. Premature puberty can cause issues later on. (like stunted growth, because the activation of sex hormones eventually shuts down the production of growth hormone, and she'll stop growing earlier.) Best to take her to the doctor, and if there's a problem, they may be able to give her meds to delay puberty until she's a little older.|||My son has had underarm odour since he was three, it's not as uncommon as it sounds, I was confused and disturbed when I found it was him, I thought he was somehow getting it on him from one of us - but we didn't smell. I now put deodorant on him after his morning bath every day and that tackles it.
The breasts are worrying though unless it is just fat, have the Dr check but precocious puberty can be arrested and should be if it is that starting.|||She may have, and you can delay puberty if you act soon and get her to her pediatrician. Do you really want to explain menstruation to a 5 year old?|||Take her to the doctor. This is not normal for a five year old. If she is going through early puberty their is a way to delay it.|||Talk to an endorcrinologist.
Also, an early onset of puberty won't stunt growth, because sex hormones actualy INCREASE both growth and growth hormone levels.|||thyroid conditions can cause this, and could even cause her to be overweight. Most are very easily treated with daily medince to help ballance out the horomones.|||All children sweat and so they all have underarm smell to a greater or lesser degree. If you are worried though, take her to the doctor's.|||go to some kind of hormone doctor they will tell you what really going on.
