Why is selfridge recruitment so rubbish?

went for a interview at selfriges today to find out before the interview started the job was already allocated to someone so we wouldn't be going any further then the first stage, well for a store with such a "REPUTATION" what a joke the staff in there have one intrest themselves! they need some down to earth people!!|||what position did you apply for? I have their phone interview tomorrow. any pointers please?
