How long does it take to open a retail bookstore?

I know it's a loaded question, but I'm trying to create a plan that would work for me, financially. I'm in the very preliminary stages of planning and need to know if I should go back to work or take off a year and focus on this only. I have enough funds to support myself for a year (mortgage, food, payments, etc) and $50k for the store. So is it possible to get store open within a year?|||First you need to find a site for the store. Then a supplier. Both can be quick or take a long time depending on how diligent you are. Then train employees to run the store.
