Have You Read "Death Be Not Proud," by John Gunther?

I picked it up the other day at a second-hand store, and read it in one sitting. I cannot recommend this book more strongly, than to say, drop what you are doing at once, and exit, stage left, to your nearest library!|||No I haven't read that one but thanks for recommending it. I'm always looking for another great book|||No I haven't read the book. I will pick it up and read it now though,thanks.|||Yes, I read this book a number of years ago and it is a moving account of John Gunther's son, Johnny's battle with terminal illness and his eventual death at age 17. The name, of course comes from the poem "Death Be Not Proud" by John Donne

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee

Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;

For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow

Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,

Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,

And soonest our best men with thee do go,

Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.

Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,

And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,

And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well

And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?

One short sleep past, we wake eternally,

And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
